A Line in the Dirt

does a migrating bird see a line
scrawled in the dirt and not cross it
does a snake crossing that line
stop to erase it before crossing

there are no natural lines
drawn on earth which say
do not cross me
lines drawn scrawled gouged
in this dirt are etched there by
god revering fearing creatures
who need boundries and maps
and sacred secured lines
which say do not cross me
this is mine
if you do we will smite you
and drive you back across
the snake shat line

and yours
